We Believe in Challenging the Status Quo When It Comes to Your Health.

Dr. Heidi McGill, HBSc, ND
Registered Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine

Heidi McGill, N.D. is the founder of Healing Foundations Naturopathic Clinic (2006) and a devoted naturopathic physician who delights in helping people move from “stuck” in their health problems to “un-stuck”, guiding them toward true and lasting wellness.

She has worked with many children and hundreds of adults, teaching them about their bodies, helping them understand their illnesses and guiding them toward better ways of living.

In her clinical practice, Heidi works with adults and families, addressing a broad range of acute and chronic health concerns using safe, effective natural therapies that recognize and support the body’s innate self-healing property. She skillfully employs natural medicines and therapies that can be used alone or in conjunction with conventionally prescribed medicines.

Heidi likes to say that she specializes in “matters of the heart!” She particularly enjoys working with adult women who require prevention and treatment for heart problems as well as those who struggle with mental and emotional stress due to: shock, grief, trauma, worry/anxiety and depression. In addition, Dr. McGill employs naturopathic therapies to correct digestive, hormone, thyroid and adrenal imbalances.

Her naturopathic clinic is dedicated to a vision of complementary health care in society.

Healing Foundations was developed from a passionate belief that each person has within them the wisdom to heal and regain the hope and gentleness that lie in their true hearts, bringing about a greater sense of wholeness, ease and joy in their life.

Dr. McGill graduated from the University of Guelph in 1996 with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences.

During her undergraduate degree, Heidi was a dedicated athlete of the varsity women’s cross-country and track teams. In September 2009, she and her team-mates were honoured by an induction into the University of Guelph Hall of Fame for their gold medal win at the national cross-country championships in 1996 - the first women’s team in the history of the university to win this title.

Heidi’s life-long dream was to study medicine. As a young athlete, she was determined to understand how lifestyle factors and mental awareness affected the body and mind for health promotion, performance, disease and injury prevention.

Heidi went on to pursue naturopathic medical study at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto, Ontario. She excelled in the biomedical sciences and the art of natural healing therapies. However, the most significant year of learning came during her time away from college due her own failing health and subsequent journey towards regaining it. Heidi, in turn, has successfully overcome many obstacles and has developed a life based on the principals and practices of naturopathy as the cornerstone for her own health and wellness. Heidi’s personal story is an example of how the power of naturopathy can access the healing that comes from within. Presently, Heidi's authentic self, naturopathic skill and vitality shine through. She received her Naturopathic Medical Diploma from CCNM in 2004.

For more than twenty years Heidi has been an avid long-distance runner and has completed many marathons including Toronto, New York, Chicago and Boston. Heidi seeks rejuvenation in body and mind through restorative practices such as meditation and yoga. She also enjoys reading, taking long walks in nature, music and dancing! Her clients, family, friends and beloved golden retrievers are a constant source of love and inspiration in her life.

Heidi’s hope for all people is that in the process of re-gaining physical health they also discover the inspiration, hope and gentleness that lie in their true heart and with that bring about a greater sense of ease, peace and happiness in their mental, emotional and spiritual life.

I am passionate about helping people live their lives with a deeper sense of purpose and meaning, sharing the gifts they have been given for the betterment of our communities.
